As a theatre practitioner collaborating with a community, more times than one, the artistic outcomes of CCD projects I am involved in are Theatre arts based. This does not necessarily mean it was the best possible art form or the preferred option by the community but my own area of expertise. Is this power of influence restrictive in community expression? And for the practitioner, is this a duty of care failure as not all art forms are made available to the community to self determine the best mode of expression nor are there choosing an art form that might be already a part of their community expression.
Is then part of the role of the CCD practitioner brokering of the diverse art forms relevant or potentially appropriate for use in regards to community initiative/expression? In the CCD course, it is clear to me that the CCD practitioner will be equipped with skills to collaborate with a community not only as an artist but a coordinator, project manager, convener, facilitator etc in this regard, I think it is a duty of care for the CCD to be in a position to consider and invoke the option of art form for community expression. Once then another art practice is engaged by the practitioner on behalf of the community, the artist role and terms of reference as in my involvement with the West Pap proj, become a function and a guideline for the pract's paramemeters
